Beautifully written

I was asked by Lovereading to review this Friends- Ellen, Ash and Daniel and the timeline of Ellen between 1955 and her childhood during the second world war.
The children essentially brought themselves up, and at the same time experiencing, trauma, loss and abuse. These are damaged children and the author paints a bleak but realistic view on this. The war is painted as should be war is never good, and finding a german pilot who has crashed is difficult for anyone to digest let alone young people. Ellen's evacuation is no Narnia story and is difficult and rather lonely.

Beautifully written and well researched.

Beautifully written

I was asked by Lovereading to review this book. Beautifully written and a love story but on the other hand so devistating too. The summer of 69 (makes me think of Bryan Adams song) - Richard and Nina,
This is a story of love and loss, cruelty by people, grief and ultimately healing too.
The way the past and events shape who we are and how we loveband piecing together the jigsaw of the mystery of the past.
Tissues should be sold alongside this book- readers you will need them.

I was asked ny NetGalley to review this really lovely festive read

The author writes such lovely characters and a really good story too.

There is Jaimie. Theo and Mirren.  A secret book which could restore Jamies family fortune, a storm that cuts them all - imagine no mobiles, wifi or electricity sounds horrendous in cold snowed in Scotland but takes the three into the past and a search for an old book.

This is an intruguing festive cosy read

Due for publication 9 October 2025. Really recommended - Loved it.

Fab Festive Fun

I was asked by NetGalley to review this lovely festive read, and as the days get colder and we look to the festive season - it is never too early to start reading these cosy reads.

I found myself laughing and crying also.

The author has written some lovely characters and there is Laura and Callum - Laura agrees to be a fake girlfriend for Callum over the holidays.

Callum is in a bit of a mess- he does not want to run his family's farm, so a fake girlfriend gives him the ideal excuse for not visiting his family in Scotland. He leaves to attend catering school in Paris and rents out his London flat to Laura.

Confusion begins with the start date of the London rental and inpromptu visit by his parents to the flat- the lies, the fun and madness begins. Pretending can be a difficult thing to do amd will romance blossom in the highlands of Scotland this Christmas.

Readers not long to wait due for publication 9 October 2025

I was asked by NetGalley to review this and boy was I pleased and privilaged to do so

A story within a story, A bookbinder- there are hidden secret inside a book, throughout the story Lilian searches for missing books to piece this all together. What an historical thriller, well reserched - this author writes well and telld a great story that the reader will not be able to put down.

Such a treat and will be up there in the top ten just in time for the Christmas gift buying this festive season

Loved it due for publication November 6 2025

A great Emotional Read

I was really pleased to review this from NetGalley

The story which is- dual time lines, and set in Greece. Skye has won a lottery to an abandoned Grrek house with some others. The house is in need of renevation and are helped by Andreas. As I said there are two timelines, one in the present and during the second world war with the previous owners, in which Skye find out during her time in this cottage by means of letters.

An emotional and good read really recommended and I feel privilaged to have read this before the publication date- set for March 26 2026.

This will be a great Easter and sunbed read in 2026.

Lovely Festive Read

I was asked by NetGalley to review this lovely festive book.

The temperatures are dropping now so was an apt book to read albeit it is September but NEVER to early for a festive cosy read.

Jemma works for a chain of hotels and is a highflyer living with her boyfroend Mathew and really is married to the job. Jemma has been head hunted to sort out hotels and this is really what she wants in her career.

Before America Jemma and Mathew go to visit her father on the farm she grew up.  Mathew is not suited to the farm, the mud and the weather. Jemma is surprised as her father is not there to greet them - something is not right - her father is unwell and has been rushed into hospital. Mathew wants to leave, but Jemma stays to see what is happening with her childhood farm.

The story continues will the farm be saved, a retired rugby player is thrown into the mix. A magical festive read.

Festive Whodunit

I was asked by NetGalley to review this

My first thought was families and Christmas - I know only too well the temptation luckily I have all of December off so family is a bit part.

Anyway this is really interesting whodunit and even although I read it on one of the hottest days in the summer - it was really entertaining with some really vile characters- each one makes this story really work.

Well written and due for publication October 9 2025

I was asked by NetGalley to review this - I read this over the hot summer and this has now been published in April 2025.

A really well written and easy read. This is a very unlikely detective living in an old persons home, 87 with mobility issues ( Florrie has one leg) in  wheelchair.

A tragic death- Florrie believes this to have been murder and is the murderer right here in the home.

Interesting as Florrie also looks back on her life - her passions, regrets and she has a secret.

Great Characters and a good story

Interesting Read

I was asked by NetGalley to review this interesting read.

Wow what a story and a sequel also ( I read this as a standalone)

The Fitzmaurice  family have covered up scandals and yeards ago they bribed the police to not press charges in and RTA, paying Bens friend to take the blame!!

Fast forward Ben is now Energy Secretary and has anbitions to become PM - so does not want any skeletons coming out od the cupboard. It gets worse as Bens daughter is an eco warrior and his friend who took the charges is back on the scene!!

We can all see where this is going - power, revenge and people who think they are untouchable and above the law!!

Beautifully written

I was asked to review this by NetGalley and loved this

This was so beautifully written in the world of 197os and italian cinema. Nicholas flees to Venice and meets set and costume designer Danilo Donati who is working on two films.

This is intimate with complex charcters, one can't believe this is is history now as we are looking at 50 or so years ago,

Beautiful and due for publication November 6 2025

Thank you NetGalley for letting me review this remarkable sequel

In this sequel of the Impossible Creatures series, we follow Christopher as he goes back to the Archipelago to help Jacques save the dragons.

Desperate need of their help also, they find Anya, the Princess of Dousha, she is in need of help as this turns out to be the very same mission

This is a fantastic childrens book and so recommeded

lovely

Well whats not to love about a lovely cosy festive story and read in the hot summer in a lovely cottage in North Yorks.

Thank you NetGalley for letting me review this.

Lara works in the English Lakes at Ravensdale Castle and as it is nearing Christmas she is preparing for a Christmas light trail (we all love a light trail and since Kew - these are popping up all over December now) Then there is Flynn who takes up a post as Technical Manager and there is a spark. They try just to be work mates but things change. Will they be together for Christmas - you will find out as this is due for publication November 2025. So get the fleecy blanket, Christmas PJs and a mulled wine and enjoy.

So recommended loved this.

I was pleased NetGalley asked me to review this book

I am a little late as this was published in June 2025- I am still writing up my summer reviews.

This was a compelling debut novel and I will be looking out for other works by this author. I would say this has been really thought provoking and it has been on my mind since I finished this.

Essentially this is about a woman and her daily life, those people she meets during her life and journey not expected and will she ever be happy and reflection within herself.

An interesting well written read

Interesting and sad

Thank you NetGalley for letting me review this book.

I am new to this author and really loved this story set after world war 1 and concerns three womwen, Florence is living with her dead sisters husband and his daughter called Phoebe who is a challenge. Kit is making masks for the soldiers who have suffered damage or had their faces destroyed in battle,

In the village is a large carved face in the headland- this was tended by a family pre war but they were all victims of the great war and is now disapearing. The people of the village are superstitious, wanting the face must be preserved in order to keep the villagers safe the war put paid to that and the family tending to it gone with the raveges of war.

The book is about the realtionship between Florence and Kit

Interesting but also very sad (this left a generation without men - I remember some very emitted primary school teachers who never got over this and were without love)

I enjoyed this well written book, Due For publication later this month on 25 September 2025.

Beautiful

Thank you NetGalley for letting me review this book

A beautifully written book, I was drawn to this as old school, I wrote letters, I had pen pals and before mobiles wrote to my  now husband whom I had  a long distance relationship. I was also a lover of stationary shops ( the old fashioned ones)

This is memior, how to all  and about letter writing parties and the author has a letter shop - maybe this was like my memories of stationers, ink different grades of pens and pencils - love it.

I do hope letter writing is not cast into history

Beautifully illustrated loved this

Lovely Story

I was asked by NetGalley to review this lovely book

Rory is a boy with dreams and a great immagination  he and his friends at out adventures whilst avioding the school bully. As with all families he has an annoying older sister Clare.

The circus comes to town and Rory becomes interested in this and Donna the elephant in the title.

A really lovely story and will be an ideal Christmas stocking filler

Thank you for letting me review this book.

interesting

I am a little late to the table with my review been off for 2 months so getting round to writing up my review- thank you NetGalley and Bloomsbury for allowing me to review this

I would say the book was odd but I wanted to keep reading till the end, it delt with some difficult topics but I enjoye the read.

School teacher Dolores finds that her husband has bought an AI doll and throws the husband out! and starts to rely on said doll called Zoey.

She realises her relationship with her husband was as I would put it comfy slippers and no real comms between them. She is lonely

The story explores childhood trauma, relationships and the effect technology has on us.

Interesting story and glad I was able to read this

loved this

I was really pleased when the publisher asked me if I would review this authors new work so thank you NetGalley and Simon & Schuster UK for allowing me to review.

I read this on my holiday on a sunny day and as a fan of the BBC Fake or Fortune and the art world I loved this

Ths story is dual timeline- 1940 and in the 1990s

Maddelena and Luca in war torn Italy and Beatrice and Jude in the 1990s

Some critics did not like Beatrice story but I loved them both.

Mystery and intrigue around an old master, living under the doctatorship of Mussolini and the Natzi regieme in the 1940s

Well researched and written this author can write a good story.

Wow

I was asked by Lovereading to review this book due for publication 13 October 2025, and will be in the top ten books.
This was so compelling - a dual timeline story. Due for publication October 13 2025.
This gives a voice to women of history set in American in San Franscisco, a suffragist in the 19th century and a migrant attorney set in modern day. Wow what powerful women linked by blood, and a diary.
This story explores policics, imigration, and gender. All relatible and we can look at how far society and culture have come but boy do we have a way to go.
Well researched, this author writes so well, so recommended.
